How To Get There
Luckily, there are great resources to get you to the Trout Lake trail head via a seasonal shuttle, once you get to Trout Lake. But this is a "seasonal" service, so check the website.
Getting to Trout Lake is not quite as easy as there is no public transportation that goes to Trout Lake.
Using the local FaceBook Group and making your request there can help. Local Trail Angels are happy to make trips to trout lake, because although https://troutlake.org/pct-trail-angels/ has a pretty good list of Trail Angels, they are often busy.
We will work oexpanding the local Columbia Gorge Trail Angels list, but you also try to contact the Trail Angels listed at https://troutlake.org/pct-trail-angels/
There is no service from Hood River to White Salmon before July 1 and they do not allow hikers to walk across the bridge.
Seasonally, CAT bus expands the service to the White Salmon area from the CAT transfer station at 224 Wasco Loop (close to Wal-Mart and Safeway). However, this is seasonal so be sure to check https://www.ridecatbus.org/white-salmon/ to see if this service is still available.
Option 1
First get to Hood River - Use CAT bus - 7 days a week
Then Cat Bus to Hood River To White Salmon when in season includes weekends
Not in season but on a week day, use Mount Adams Transit (MATS) to get you to White Salmon park and ride transfer .
Weekends - out of season, your best bet is Trail Angels or maybe Gorge Taxi (Hood River 541-399-5060).
Once in White Salmon, call a trail angel, or hitch or hike (not recommended as the road is narrow with no shoulders) to SR 14 and 141 Junction - from there, it should be pretty easy to hitch a ride to Trout Lake.
Option 2
Skamania Transit - (Week days only) on Washington side of the bridge.
They stop in Cascade Locks at 2:33PM and drop you off an Bingen Park and ride.
From there call a trail angel, or hitch or hike (not recommended as the road is narrow with no shoulders) to SR 14 and 141 Junction - from there, it should be pretty easy to hitch a ride.
