This year Lewis County Transportation has extended its service, giving hikers the option of public transportation to Packwood, WA, (Monday thru Friday only) which is about 20 miles from White Pass. In the past, hikers have commented on how easy it is to get a hitch to and from White Pass.

CATBus from Cascade Locks to Gateway Transit Center, Portland (NE 99th Avenue & Pacific) (https://www.ridecatbus.org/columbia-gorge-express/)
Take TriMet bus (Green Line) to: Union Station/NW 5th & Glisan MAX Stn N (ID 7601), Portland
Once you get to NW 5th & Glisan its a short walk north to Union Station.

Step 4: Lewis County Transit
Lewis County Transit to Morton, WA (Monday through Friday only)
You will have to get to 12 Airport Road, in Centralia, WA from the Amtrak station.

*Note - On weekends, you will have to hitch from the Amtrak station to White Pass. However, if drivers become available, we will post in the Trail Angel section at the end of this page.
You can either walk (36 min) or take the Lewis County Transit (Blue Line) to transit center, then take the Brown Line to Packwood WA. The following link to a map, will help you navigate to the transit center from the Amtrak station.

Weekends, you will need to hitch or see if any Trail Angels are scheduled below and contact them directly. If you choose a Trail Angel please consider donating to their fuel costs.
